Seçil EREL’in ‘Yalnız An’ isimli sergisi Ankara Ziraat Bankası Mithatpaşa Sanat Galerisi ‘nde 23 Kasım 11 Aralık 2009 tarihleri arasında izleyiciyle buluşuyor.
“Şimdi değişkendir. Şimdi, geçmiş ve gelecek arasında bir değişkendir. Zaman kavramının şimdi ile olan ilişkisi mekanları da etkiler. Mekan ve zamanla birlikte “ben” de değişir, sabit kalamaz. Ancak bu süreçte yitirdiklerini hafızada biriktirmeye devam eder. Her oluşum, aklı (bireyi) yeni yalnızlıklara sürüklerken hafıza da düşünmeye yönlendirir. İnsanın yaşamla ilişkisini sağlayan temel bir yapı olarak bellek, kendini zaman ve mekanla var eder; bir yandan da kendisini yok saymaya alışkın sisteme karşı da var olmaya niyet eder. “
Seçil Erel’in yaşamın değişkenliğini vurgulayarak hafızaları silmeye çalışan sistem karşısında oluşturduğu izleri “Yalnız An” sergisinde bir araya geliyor. “Yalnız An”, lisans ve yüksek lisans eğitimini Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi Resim Bölümü’nde tamamlamış ve çalışmalarını İstanbul Moda’daki atölyesinde sürdüren Seçil Erel’in 3. kişisel sergisidir.
Erel, An kavramını zamanın sürekliliğini belirleyen diyagonal, düşey ve yatay çizgisel geçişler ile yansıtırken Yalnız kavramını ise sınırsız boşluk olarak ele alıyor. Birey, zaman ve mekanın değişen döngüsüne yoğunlaşan Erel, hafıza boşlukları ve boyutlarını farklı malzemeler kullanarak resme aktarıyor. Sanatçı, resimlerindeki mekan hissi uyandıran konstrüksiyonları ise, zamanın geçiciliğini sabitlemek adına oluşturulan soyut mekanlar olarak tanımlıyor.

Sanatçı, tuval üzerine karışık malzemeler kullandığı resimlerinde Sistem, Değişken Zaman, Yalnız An ve Mekan başlıklarını taşıyan serileri bir araya getiriyor. Geri Dönüşüm serisinde ise, resim yaparken kullandığı malzemelerin yeniden değerlendirilmesinden oluşan kolajlarını sergiliyor.

¨Lonely¨ and ¨Moment¨ are the abstract concepts that can only be perceived by a specific sense. To perceive these concepts it is required to develop perception skill in which all the differentials are interiorized within a specific.system .Such a richness in conscious may bring about a reflection that is relevant to the reality of the concepts of lonliness and moment. This formation reflection, in a sense, is meaningful when it is realized by perceptive skill that is oriented to the wole universe and the outside world.
The concentration in ¨Lonely¨ and ¨Moment¨ is determined by an objective that would be evidenced only by certain concrete data. Concepts of lonliness and moment are to be specified as abstracted data that need to be resolved and as a whole with it all motions, flows and processes and by a depth of a very subjective perception whose base has been equipped by preliminary information.
At this point, it is transformed into a conscious perception of the fact of ¨Lonely¨ and ¨Moment¨ by different segments in which the individual is stripped off his/her subjectivity.
In this stage, pure and separated understanding leaves its place to spiritual assesments that are progressed by the aim of culture of ordinary man.
Creating a compatible ambience in aesthetics with the concepts “Lonely” and “Moment” can come true only by the change of quantitative meanings of practice facts into qualitative way of look.
Seçil Erel heads to analyze appearances in abstract compositions of the meanings of the concepts “Lonely” and “Moment “ in this regard.
Erel receives the concept of ¨Lonely¨ as an infinite hole and results it to the infinity of deep where all the material values have no sense anymore. Human relations which are the meaning of life and their conflicts within the networks are emphasised in the artist’s work in a contradictory way as some moments and their affect on stopping the time. Thus, the lonliness born between the life’s steps are becoming boring and terrifying holes.
Erel takes the concept of “Time” as an ensemble of linear gates diagonally, vertically and horizontally and make from them a structural design. This creation which reminds the speed of life is also convenient with the meaning of the human existence in the history.
The whole universe and the human are appearing in the holes between the life stages and these are the levels of stop/ping the lonely moments. The linear texture which is generally made with monochrome colors is describing the deepness of being a solitary in relations based on being similar and being differrent.
Seçil Erel gives a re definition to the “Lonely Moments”s striking hole by mixing it with her language’s excitement.
